Biography
Dr. Ifeoma Christy Mba (née Anaedum) is an Associate Professor of Economics and the former Head of the Department of Economics at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Monetary Economics from the University of Nigeria and a B.Sc. in Statistics and Economics, graduated with Second Class Upper Division. Her research expertise spans monetary and financial economics, econometric modeling, gender and health economics, as well as stochastic and game theory. Dr. Mba is a recipient of several awards, including the NESA UNN Meritorious Award (2023) as the Most Effective and Student-Friendly Head of Department, and the NYSC Merit Award (2006). She has also been recognized among the Top Ten Most Friendly Female Lecturers at the University of Nigeria (2016). She has published widely in reputable international journals such as the Journal of Travel Research, International Journal of Sustainable Economy, Applied Energy, and the International Journal of Energy Economics and Policy. Her scholarly contributions address critical issues in globalization, institutional quality, financial deepening, international tourism, digital infrastructure, and economic policy in developing economies. Beyond her academic pursuits, Dr. Mba has won competitive research grants, including TETFUND sponsorships for work on digital infrastructure, smart tourism, and household welfare disparities. She also contributes actively to professional bodies such as the Nigerian Economic Society, the International Society for Development and Sustainability, and the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World. She balances her academic career with active service as a PTA Treasurer and University Women Association Treasurer within the University community, demonstrating her commitment to institutional development and social impact. Her hobbies include reading, dancing, and listening to music.
